Highland Prep West prepares every student for life after graduation. Through advanced coursework, dual college credit, college-readiness testing, and real-world internships, students leave ready for university and career.
Advanced Placement
Our goal is for every student to complete at least one AP course, earning a college-level experience and the chance to earn college credit.
Dual College Credit
Through partnerships like Embry-Riddle and Project Lead the Way, students earn college credit while still in high school.
College Readiness Testing
Students prepare for and take the PSAT, ACT, and SAT, with support built into the school year.

- Build strong study habits and a strong GPA from day one.
- Take Pre-AP level courses to build a strong foundation.
- Get involved in a club, sport, or activity.

- Take the PSAT.
- Start your first AP or dual-credit course.
- 3Junior11th grade
- Take the PSAT/NMSQT, then the SAT or ACT.
- Build a resume and line up an internship.
- Tour colleges and ask teachers for recommendations.
- 4Senior12th grade
- Explore careers through Internships 101.
- Finish college applications.
- Complete the FAFSA and apply for scholarships.
- Request transcripts through Parchment, then decide and commit.

Internships 101 connects students with real workplaces so they can explore careers before they graduate. The program is built on four Es.

Every Hornet has one counselor for academics, college and career planning, and support along the way. He helps students choose courses, prepare for the SAT and ACT, apply to college, and file for financial aid. When you call the front office about your student's plan, he is your person.
