Highland Prep West robotics spans four programs, from competition robots to underwater ROVs, aerial drones, and satellite coding. Students design, build, program, and compete, taking ideas from the workshop to the competition floor.


VEX Robotics
Students design, build, and code competition robots for the seasonal VEX game, iterating through the full engineering design process and facing off in tournaments. Teams document their build in a judged engineering notebook.

RADC Aerial Drones
The aerial drone program trains students to pilot and program drones for the RADC Aerial Drone Competition, mastering flight, autonomous navigation, and obstacle courses. Students have also mentored younger students in drone technology through community partnerships.

SeaPerch Underwater Robotics
SeaPerch challenges students to design and build underwater remotely operated vehicles, then pilot them through underwater missions. Highland Prep West teams have advanced from regional and Highland Prep Academies competitions all the way to the SeaPerch International Challenge.

Zero Robotics
Zero Robotics is a programming competition in which students write and test code to control satellites, putting computational thinking and teamwork up against schools across the country. It connects classroom coding to real spaceflight engineering.
