Highland Prep West is proud to announce that its football team will be competing at the varsity level for the first time in the school's history, marking a significant milestone in its fourth year. The team recently held its first intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday, August 14th, following a productive summer camp that allowed the players to gel and prepare for the upcoming season. Led by new head coach Allen Ferguson, the team is eager to make its mark on the competitive landscape.
Coach Ferguson brings over 23 years of coaching experience to Highland Prep West, with a focus on building a culture of accountability, teamwork, and relentless effort. He is passionate about using football as a tool to teach life lessons, build confidence, and create opportunities for his players' futures. According to Coach Ferguson, "The boys have grown a whole lot since day one. I believe we have a championship caliber team." With a talented senior class, the team aims to make a special run this season, with district victory being the ultimate goal.
The Highland Prep West Hornets have several standout athletes to watch, including linebacker and running back Jordan Jefferson, wide receiver and safety Brayden Patton, quarterback Sebastian Salazar, linebacker Dariyon Dean, and wide receivers Trystan Arendt and Rivelino Cerda. With Coach Ferguson's leadership and the team's dedication, Highland Prep West is poised for a successful season. As Coach Ferguson said, "We want to win district.
