The JV boys basketball team remains undefeated this year, with a current record of 8-0. The boys have come together extremely well and have played great so far, winning decisively all the games they have played thus far in the season. Even in the close games they have had this year, the JV boys basketball team has found a way to win, which really shows the heart and the grit of this team.
Coach Blain said, "I'm proud of them so far for coming such a long way in just two short years, but we still have a lot of work to do to get to where we want to be next year as a Varsity team". Leading scorer, Brayden Patton said, "Our defense has improved a lot and is a key part of our team". Van Michael Smith said "It's cool to see a team full of guys like us that had no basketball experience but still have had this kind of success."
The team explained their goal for this season is to finish undefeated, which will mean beating Highland Prep Surprise (the only team that beat them last year). Since it is only JV this year, they are always focused on player development as well, trying to constantly improve their players as individuals across the board. Next year, the level of competition will take a big step up as it will now be Highland Prep West's third year running as a new school, and there will be a full class of freshmen, sophomores, and juniors.
