Highland Prep West, a STEM college preparatory high school in Avondale, is excited to announce that six of its aerospace engineering students will be participating in the NASA Space App Development Challenge.
The NASA Space App Development Challenge consists of rigorous coding challenges to complete various deep space exploration missions. Students are instructed to use open data from NASA and its Space Energy Partners to successfully reach communication and navigation checkpoints. This challenge commenced on October 4th and will go on until December 13th when the ADC video submission is due for all participants.
Aerospace engineer teacher William Imbus led this same group of students through the challenge last year when they were only just freshmen. Since the school is now in its second year having been opened, the students are now comprised of freshmen and sophomores. Mr. Imbus meets with the students every Monday after school where they focus their meetings on working on the challenge as well as practicing with 3D modeling, engineering robotics, and programming.
