The Highland Prep West SeaPerch program is once again demonstrating its excellence with two teams qualifying for the 2025 SeaPerch International Challenge. This achievement is a testament to the program's commitment to providing students with hands-on experience in robotics, engineering, and problem-solving.
The teams' qualification for nationals is a remarkable accomplishment, showcasing the skills and dedication of Highland Prep West's students. Team "Ghostie," consisting of Clara Bradford, Dariyon Dean, Lorenzo Recto, and Iysis Sherwood, took first place at the Highland Prep Academies' 2nd Annual SeaPerch Competition, securing their spot at nationals. Team "Henry," comprised of Kelly Correa, Maya Frias, Ruth Fry, and Jenson Mallinger, emerged victorious at the Regional Arizona Championship, earning their place among the nation's best.
The national competition will take place on May 31st and June 1st in Maryland, where the teams will face the challenge of environmental monitoring through coral restoration. As they prepare for the event, the teams are working to improve their robots' performance, focusing on reducing weight for enhanced maneuverability and optimizing their time underwater.
